We have yet to see, and I'm really looking forward to it, how the Maker Culture is becoming able to really change the industry; change the way most people buy and consume things. In the Maker Culture is rare for a product (a prototype using digital fabrication) to succeed in the market.
We Makers have all the tools to turn ideas into prototypes, but we lack the business organization to transform them to transform them into established social solutions. Our culture gives us a lot of advantages to disrupt traditional industry... and it's time to prove it.Lets put in value our agility, our quick and independent learning skills, and our collaborative thinking towards innovation. And let's create the network to market the amazing solutions that grow up from these values.
We makers are used to face and solve design challenges. It is time to close the gap between the design and the market. For all this, we propose to collaborate around a specific problem, solved with the Maker Culture and values, but with a clear ambition to be competitive in the market.
We make an open call to the Makers community: let's choose a problem to work upon. Let's open an on-line channel to work together. And in order to accelerate online discussions, let's meet in real places and let's use physical spaces (Fablabs, Maker Spaces, Maker Houses) to make it happen.
THESE ARE LONG TERM CHALLENGES, OVER 3 MONTHS THAT ARE DEVELOP ONLINE AND OFFLINE THROUGH RESIDENCES IN SEVERAL COUNTRIES.
